More Filipinos now view China as the biggest external threat to the Philippines, according to the latest Tugon ng Masa survey by OCTA Research, conducted from December 3 to 11, 2025.

The survey showed that 79% of respondents identified China as the country’s greatest external threat, up from 74% in July 2025, reflecting rising public concern amid ongoing regional tensions.

Far behind China on the list were Russia (5%) and the United States (4%).

Trust in China remains low. About 60% of respondents said China cannot be trusted, while only 13% expressed trust, and 26% were unsure.

The nationwide survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 Filipino adults and carries a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.

These results underscore that, despite regional differences, skepticism toward China continues to dominate public sentiment across the country.
