Comelec Releases Initial List Of Bangsamoro Election Bets

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has officially released the tentative list of candidates and nominees for the upcoming Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) set on September 14, giving voters an early look at who could be competing in the historic regional polls.
The list, now available on the official website of the Commission on Elections, includes candidates for parliamentary district representatives as well as nominees from Regional Parliamentary Political Parties (RPPPs) and Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations (PSOs).
Based on the posted lineup, 13 regional parliamentary political parties are participating in the elections, alongside 30 nominees representing various sectoral groups across the Bangsamoro region.
Among the sectoral nominees are representatives from settler communities, women, youth groups, ulama, and traditional leaders — sectors expected to play a major role in shaping the future Bangsamoro Parliament.
The tentative roster also names 107 candidates running for parliamentary district representative posts across different areas in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Leading the list is Lanao del Sur with 33 candidates across nine districts. This is followed by Basilan with 17 candidates, Maguindanao del Sur with 16, and Maguindanao del Norte with 11 candidates.
Meanwhile, Cotabato City has 10 candidates running across three districts, while the Special Geographic Area has seven candidates for two districts. Tawi-Tawi recorded 13 candidates across four districts.
Comelec reminded all candidates, parties, and nominees to carefully review how their names will appear on the official ballot and immediately report any spelling or typographical mistakes.
The poll body said requests for corrections must be filed with the Law Department no later than May 18, 2026.
Comelec also clarified that inclusion in the published list does not automatically guarantee eligibility, stressing that petitions questioning the qualifications of candidates or nominees may still be filed before the commission.
According to the poll body, the publication of the list also serves as official public notice regarding the declared qualifications of all nominees and aspirants.
