Creamline, Farm Fresh Clash For Finals Spot

It’s experience versus belief as the Creamline Cool Smashers and Farm Fresh Foxies face off Thursday in a do-or-die battle for the last Finals berth in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

On paper, the edge clearly leans toward Creamline. The Cool Smashers, a 10-time champion squad, have built a reputation for staying composed under pressure, especially in knockout matches where experience often makes the difference.

But Farm Fresh isn’t backing down.

“Tiwala sa isa’t isa (trust in each other) – that’s what carried us,” said Trisha Tubu, whose clutch performance helped push the Foxies into this win-or-go-home showdown set at 4 p.m. at the FilOil Centre.

Still, the challenge ahead is steep.

Creamline enters the match with a battle-tested core led by Bernadeth Pons, Jema Galanza, Tots Carlos, Bea de Leon, Pangs Panaga, and Jia de Guzman—players who have gone through multiple title runs and high-pressure situations together. Their chemistry and championship experience remain their biggest weapons.

They are also expected to enjoy strong crowd support at the San Juan venue, something Farm Fresh coach Koji Tsuzurabara acknowledged heading into the match.

“The next match is at FilOil, and almost everyone there will be cheering for Creamline,” said Tsuzurabara. “Maybe 99 percent for them, and just a fraction for us. That’s reality – but it’s also a challenge we’re willing to embrace.”

He added that his team is still building its identity compared to more established squads.

“We’re not as well-known yet,” he said. “But we hope people start to see what this team can do – and maybe support us, too.”

That underdog mindset has fueled Farm Fresh’s rise this conference. Behind Tubu, along with veterans Ces Molina and Royse Tubino, the Foxies have combined experience with fearlessness, grinding their way from the Play-In round to the semifinals.

Creamline, however, showed signs of vulnerability in its recent four-set loss to Cignal, proving that even the league’s most dominant team can be challenged.

With a Finals slot on the line, the matchup shapes up as one of the most unpredictable games of the conference—pitting Creamline’s winning tradition against Farm Fresh’s momentum and belief.

Cignal has already secured a spot in the Finals after an unbeaten semifinal run and now awaits the winner of this high-stakes showdown for the best-of-three championship series.
