The Cool Smashers reminded everyone in the Premier Volleyball League that the throne was never up for grabs. It was simply waiting for them to take it back.

And they did—through both dominance and sheer resilience.

In a Finals clash that had everything from commanding runs to nerve-wracking momentum swings, Creamline outlasted the Cignal Super Spikers in a gripping five-set battle, 25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 16-25, 15-11, to capture the All-Filipino Conference crown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

At the heart of the closing moments was Tots Carlos, who delivered when it mattered most. With the match hanging in the balance, she fired a clutch kill before sealing the championship with a decisive block on Vanie Gandler—a back-to-back sequence that sparked wild celebrations.

But the road to that final point was anything but easy.

Creamline found itself trailing 6-8 in the deciding set, with Cignal riding a wave of confidence behind Gandler and Erika Santos. Instead of panicking, the Cool Smashers leaned on experience. Jema Galanza broke through with a crucial hit, while Jia de Guzman orchestrated the comeback with smart plays, including a timely 1-2 attack.

Errors from Cignal opened the door, and Creamline didn’t waste the opportunity. A block from Pangs Panaga shifted momentum, setting up the final push.

Even as Gandler tried to rally Cignal late, Creamline stayed composed. Out of a timeout, Carlos took over—hammering a powerful attack before rising for the championship-clinching block that sent the 17,000-strong crowd into a frenzy.

It was Creamline’s 11th title—and eighth All-Filipino crown—but this one hit differently.

After a season marked by injuries, inconsistency, and do-or-die battles, the Cool Smashers showed their championship DNA when it mattered most.

“I’m speechless,” said de Guzman, who matched Gel Cayuna in playmaking with 31 excellent sets. “We worked so hard for this. Cignal really pushed us, but we stayed patient and finished it.”

Defense also played a key role, with libero Jen Nierva savoring her first title with the team after years away from the Finals stage.

Still, one of the biggest anchors of the win was Bernadeth Pons. Delivering an MVP-level performance, she filled the stat sheet with 22 points, 25 digs, and 15 receptions—steadying Creamline through the most chaotic stretches.

Carlos added 18 points, while Galanza and Panaga chipped in 12 and 10, respectively, as Creamline made the most of Cignal’s errors to offset a slight disadvantage in attacks.

On the other side, it was heartbreak for Cignal despite a valiant effort. Gandler led all scorers with 26 points, backed by Santos with 21 and Tin Tiamzon with 14. They pushed the league’s gold standard to the limit—but fell just short.

In the end, the difference came down to composure, conditioning, and experience.

Creamline bent, but never broke.

And when the pressure peaked, the Cool Smashers showed exactly why they remain the team to beat.
