DepEd, Security Agencies Team Up To Boost School Safety

The Department of Education (DepEd) is strengthening efforts to improve school security nationwide after Education Secretary Sonny Angara met with officials from the Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) for a comprehensive security briefing.
The meeting focused on enhancing intelligence sharing, improving response mechanisms to potential threats, and strengthening both physical and cybersecurity measures in schools across the country.
Among the measures discussed were the conduct of a nationwide school safety audit and increased police visibility through closer coordination with the PNP.
Officials also reviewed policies aimed at making schools safer and discussed the continuing support being provided to students and personnel affected by the recent incident at San Jose National High School.
The initiative forms part of DepEd's broader effort to ensure that schools remain safe learning environments for students, teachers, and staff while addressing both traditional and emerging security concerns.
