DIPACULAO, Aurora — The local government of Dipaculao has ordered the temporary closure of Hermanos Leisure and Farm Resort following the tragic deaths of two members of the Ateneo Blue Eagles basketball team during a training activity earlier this week.

The closure order was served on Thursday, June 11, after a comprehensive inspection conducted by a composite team composed of the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), Municipal Tourism Office (MTO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The inspection was directed by Mayor Danilo A. Tolentino in the wake of the June 8 incident that claimed the lives of Rene Clert Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

According to the Municipal Government of Dipaculao, the inspection found that the resort failed to comply with several key provisions and requirements under Sangguniang Bayan Ordinance No. 2025-12, also known as the "An Ordinance Promoting Safety in Seashores and Other Bodies of Water, Including Tourist Destinations, within the Jurisdiction of the Municipality of Dipaculao, Aurora."

Officials said the temporary closure forms part of the local government's continuing efforts to ensure public safety and enforce existing laws and ordinances governing tourism establishments and activities involving bodies of water.

The LGU said it is coordinating with concerned agencies to ensure full compliance with safety standards and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

The Municipal Government of Dipaculao also extended its condolences to the families and loved ones of the two student-athletes who lost their lives in the tragedy.
