The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is expanding drainage systems along Taft Avenue in Manila to help students and commuters avoid being stranded during heavy rains.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon confirmed that the drainage improvements will cover flood-prone areas near schools and universities, including Santa Isabel College, Adamson University, Manila Science High School, De La Salle University, and Philippine Christian University.

“Here on Taft Avenue, our students are always affected by flooding. President Marcos instructed us to fund this project fully,” Dizon said during a site inspection.

The project is part of DPWH’s ongoing effort to modernize Metro Manila’s drainage infrastructure, ensuring smoother traffic flow and safer conditions during the rainy season.
