Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon is calling on Filipinos to become active partners in monitoring government infrastructure projects, stressing that public participation is crucial in identifying and addressing neglected or unfinished developments.

The appeal came after a video showing a submerged section of Arzadon Road in Barangay Mayombo, Dagupan City went viral and was subsequently brought to the attention of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

During his visit to Dagupan City, Dizon emphasized that citizen involvement plays a vital role in ensuring government projects are properly implemented and maintained.

According to the secretary, it is impossible for any official to personally monitor every project across the country, making reports from the public an important tool in detecting problems on the ground.

“I can't monitor everything by myself—that's impossible. That's why citizens' participation is very important. Our commitment is that once these concerns are reported, we will act on them quickly,” Dizon said.

The DPWH chief encouraged residents to immediately report projects that appear abandoned, delayed, defective, or poorly maintained so authorities can investigate and take the necessary corrective measures.

Dizon's call reflects the administration's push for greater transparency and accountability in public infrastructure, while also empowering communities to help ensure government-funded projects serve their intended purpose.

By opening channels for public feedback, Dizon said the government can respond faster to issues and prevent small problems from becoming larger concerns that affect communities and motorists.

The secretary assured the public that reports will not go unnoticed, reiterating the agency's commitment to taking prompt action whenever infrastructure concerns are brought to its attention.
