The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has clarified that the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) project will continue to operate with 14 stations, dispelling circulating reports claiming that the line would be reduced to 13 stations.
In its statement, the DOTr confirmed that the San Jose del Monte (SJDM) Station remains part of the approved alignment and has not been removed from the project.
The agency also said that the initial phase of MRT-7—covering 12 stations from Sacred Heart to North Avenue—is still targeted to begin operations by the second quarter of 2027, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to fast-track key infrastructure projects aimed at improving commuter travel.
Meanwhile, the Tala and SJDM stations are expected to be completed and opened to the public in 2028.
The DOTr reiterated its commitment to completing the project as planned, stressing that MRT-7 remains a key component of efforts to modernize public transportation in Metro Manila.
