DPWH Reopens Damaged Road In Sultan Kudarat
Screengrab from DPWH
Motorists can once again pass through the damaged section of the national road in Sitio Platakan, Barangay Christianuevo, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-SOCCSKSARGEN completed emergency restoration work on the area.
The road was partially damaged following days of continuous heavy rainfall, prompting authorities to carry out immediate repairs to restore access for motorists and nearby communities.
The reopening comes in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for government agencies to fast-track the repair of roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure damaged by the southwest monsoon (*habagat*) and Typhoon Inday to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of people, goods, and emergency services.
DPWH said it continues to monitor road conditions across SOCCSKSARGEN, particularly in areas prone to landslides and road slips, as intermittent rains may still pose risks to motorists. The agency also urged the public to exercise caution when traveling through affected areas and to follow traffic advisories issued by local authorities.
The agency has been conducting emergency response and restoration operations in weather-affected areas to quickly restore damaged infrastructure and maintain the passability of national roads.
