Good news for Filipinos in need of medical assistance. Beginning June 22, beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program can once again use their Guarantee Letters (GLs) at 262 participating Mercury Drug branches across the country.

The renewed partnership between the DSWD and Mercury Drug is expected to make it easier and more convenient for beneficiaries to obtain medicines and other essential medical supplies, helping ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most without unnecessary delays.

According to DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, the move is part of the agency’s continuing efforts to improve the delivery of medical assistance under the AICS program.

“This is welcome news for our fellow Filipinos who require urgent medical support. With Mercury Drug once again accepting AICS Guarantee Letters at selected branches, beneficiaries will have easier access to the medicines and supplies they need,” Dumlao said.

She emphasized that the DSWD is continuously strengthening partnerships with private establishments to make government services more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable sectors.

By expanding its network of partner pharmacies, the agency hopes to reduce the burden on families facing health-related challenges and other crises, while ensuring quicker access to assistance.

Dumlao added that the initiative also supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve the efficiency and accessibility of government services. Through collaborations like this, more Filipinos can receive timely aid during difficult times.

Before renewing its partnership with Mercury Drug, the DSWD had already entered into a similar arrangement with Generika Drugstore, giving AICS beneficiaries additional options for redeeming their Guarantee Letters.

With these partnerships in place, the DSWD aims to provide a wider range of accessible pharmacy locations where beneficiaries can conveniently obtain medicines and other medical necessities, helping ensure that assistance is delivered promptly when it matters most.
