Veteran television host Edu Manzano and media personality Ann Cuisia have spoken out to clarify their involvement with PGMN, stressing that they joined the platform as volunteer contributors driven by their belief in free speech and civic participation.
In a joint statement, the two said they were never employees of the platform and received no salary, talent fee or commercial compensation for their participation.
“We were volunteer content contributors not journalists. We were not employees. We had no contracts, no salary, no talent fee and no commercial arrangement,” the statement read.
According to Manzano and Cuisia, they chose to contribute because PGMN provided a space where people could express opinions openly and “without biased censorship.”
“That mattered to us,” they said.
The pair emphasized that their involvement came from a desire to encourage public discourse and responsible civic engagement, especially on issues affecting Filipino families, workers and future generations.
“As citizens, professionals and parents we understand that the quality of our public systems affects everyone … families, workers, businesses, institutions and the future our children will inherit,” they stated.
They also expressed appreciation for fellow contributors whom they described as people who volunteered “in good faith and at zero cost” because they cared deeply about the country.
Amid the controversy surrounding the platform, Manzano and Cuisia said they were not issuing the statement to attack or condemn anyone, adding that legal matters should be left to proper authorities.
“We are not issuing this statement to judge, condemn or throw anyone under the bus. Matters of guilt or innocence belong to the proper legal process,” they said.
The two maintained that the statement was meant solely to defend their own integrity and intentions.
“We speak only for ourselves, in defense of our own character, credibility and sincere desire to help our country in whatever way we can.”
Ending their message, the pair underscored the importance of freedom of expression and volunteerism.
“The principle that brought us there should be louder than the noise we hear today. Free speech, carried with responsibility, courage and love of country is critical.”
“Free speech has no price tag. Volunteerism has no price tag. And we remain our own voice.”
