Ejercito Appeals To Bato: Voluntary Pay Suspension Urged Amid Attendance Debate

Senator JV Ejercito has made a public appeal calling on Senator Ronald dela Rosa to voluntarily refrain from receiving his salary and allowances in the Senate amid ongoing discussions on attendance and accountability among lawmakers.
In a post, Ejercito stressed that while Senate rules on compelling attendance remain limited, he believes public officials should still be guided by higher standards of responsibility.
As stated before, even by Senate President Sotto, the Senate has yet to establish rules that can compel attendance. Any formal action will take time, as it must go through amendments and proper deliberation.
"Gaya ng mga ordinaryong Pilipinong "no work no pay," lalo’t higit ganoon din dapat ang mga lingkod-bayan. Public service is a public trust, we are all accountable to the people we serve."
The appeal highlights the continuing debate over accountability measures in the Senate, particularly on how to address absences and participation without clear enforcement mechanisms in place.
