Fake Medical Papers Used For Ayuda Alarm Doctor; DSWD Uncovers Alleged Fraud Scheme

A doctor has sounded the alarm after discovering that fake medical documents bearing his name and forged signature were allegedly being used by individuals applying for government medical assistance.

Dr. Julius Christian Bayoneta shared on social media that personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently visited his Bayoneta Lifecare Medical Clinic to verify several medical certificates, prescriptions, laboratory requests, and other documents submitted by applicants seeking financial aid.

According to the physician, the DSWD had been monitoring the questionable documents for weeks after noticing that multiple patients were claiming assistance using prescriptions supposedly issued by him.

After reviewing the records presented by the agency, Dr. Bayoneta immediately confirmed that none of the documents were authentic.

He explained that the signatures were forged, while the documents simply contained his name and professional license number. He also stressed that he had never treated or even met the individuals whose names appeared on the papers.

The doctor said the situation became even more alarming after DSWD personnel revealed that several applicants were carrying nearly identical documents, with only the patients' names changed. During interviews, many of the applicants reportedly could not explain their supposed medical condition or identify the clinic or physician who allegedly issued the documents. Some even admitted that they were approached by "fixers" who promised to help them secure government assistance.

Dr. Bayoneta warned that the incident exposes a much deeper problem, saying that people who are desperate for financial aid can easily become victims of individuals offering shortcuts to government programs.

He emphasized that medical certificates, prescriptions, and laboratory requests are legal documents that are relied upon by government agencies, hospitals, schools, employers, insurance companies, and even courts. Because of this, forging a physician's signature or submitting fabricated medical records may constitute criminal offenses under Philippine law, including falsification and the use of falsified documents.

The doctor also cautioned the public against dealing with fixers, especially those who offer to prepare medical documents without an actual consultation or guarantee government assistance in exchange for money.

Instead, he encouraged patients to apply through legitimate government channels, saying honest applications help protect both the public and the integrity of assistance programs intended for those who truly need them.

Dr. Bayoneta likewise reminded fellow healthcare professionals to remain vigilant, noting that doctors' names, license numbers, and professional identities can easily be exploited by fraudsters. He added that the cases uncovered by the DSWD may only represent a fraction of the fake medical documents allegedly being submitted to various government offices and even politicians.

Despite the incident, the physician assured the public that his clinic issues only legitimate medical documents equipped with security features, including watermarks, handwritten patient details, control numbers, ink stamps, and unique formats to prevent tampering.

He also expressed gratitude to the DSWD personnel for verifying the suspicious documents and helping safeguard both the government's assistance program and the credibility of medical professionals.
