Father Of Ateneo Player Seeks Justice After Son's Death

The father of Ateneo Blue Eagles recruit Divine Adili has called for justice following the death of his son during a team activity in Aurora, expressing grief and frustration over the tragedy that claimed the young athlete's life.

In a Facebook post, Elias Adili paid tribute to his son, Chukwuemeka Divine Adili, and reflected on his achievements as a basketball player representing Nigeria and Ateneo de Manila University.

"I want justice for my Son Chukwuemeka Divine Adili who along others stood in for Nigeria in all Nation Tournament in Philippines in 2024, Nigeria won he was ranked 6th best, he gave his all to ATENEO BLUES 3rd ranked University in Philippines, Divine your Family is highly pained and devastated by your demise out of carelessness, you evaporated like a steam out of our sight, Divine we miss you and our tears seems endless," he wrote.

The post comes as questions continue to surround the circumstances of the incident that led to the deaths of Adili and fellow Ateneo recruit Rene Clert Baterbonia during a team activity in Dipaculao, Aurora on June 8.

The tragedy has sparked calls for a thorough investigation, with family members and supporters seeking answers regarding the events leading up to the deaths of the two student-athletes.

Authorities have yet to release the full findings of their investigation into the incident.
