History was made at the 2026 Milano‑Cortina Winter Olympics as Tallulah Proulx, the first Filipina to compete in the Winter Games, completed the women’s giant slalom and finished 52nd overall at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

At just 17 years old, Proulx was one of the youngest competitors in a highly competitive field. She completed two runs with times of 1:17.15 and 1:24.47, for a combined total of 2:41.62, putting her ahead of several other skiers and marking a proud performance for the Philippines.

Reflecting on her race, Proulx said, “It was so fun and actually scary. But I finished it. It was honestly unbelievable,” highlighting the significance of completing both runs on the Olympic stage.

Born in the United States and raised in Park City, Utah, Proulx qualified for the Olympics based on her international competition results. Her father’s roots in Eastern Samar and her Filipino heritage have made her participation particularly meaningful to fans back home.

Proulx’s giant slalom performance followed Francis Ceccarelli’s 54th-place finish in the men’s event, showcasing a memorable set of races for Team Philippines in Cortina and Bormio.

Looking ahead, Proulx is scheduled to compete in the women’s slalom, a shorter and more technical alpine skiing event that demands tight turns and precise technique.

For a country with limited winter sports tradition, Tallulah Proulx’s debut has already left a lasting mark—proof that with grit and dedication, Filipino athletes can make history on snow.
