Fuel Price Hike Hits Motorists Tuesday - Gas Up Before The Increase

Motorists should prepare for another round of pump price hikes as oil companies are set to implement upward adjustments on Tuesday, March 3.

According to advisories from local fuel firms monitored by the Department of Energy, the following price increases will take effect:

• Gasoline: +₱1.90 per liter
• Diesel: +₱1.20 per liter
• Kerosene: +₱1.50 per liter

These adjustments reflect recent movements in the global oil market, where prices climbed amid rising geopolitical tensions and disruptions affecting key supply routes. Analysts point to tightening output from major producers and volatile international trading as primary drivers of the latest hike.

Local pump prices are largely influenced by shifts in global benchmarks — including the Mean of Platts Singapore — as well as fluctuations in the peso-dollar exchange rate.

This marks the second straight week of increases across several fuel products, partially offsetting the rollbacks recorded earlier in the year. Transport groups warn that continued weekly hikes could pressure fare adjustments, while logistics operators caution that operational costs may soon be passed on to consumers.

The DOE encourages motorists to stay updated through official fuel price bulletins and advises drivers — especially those in public transport — to consider refueling ahead of Tuesday’s price movement.

More detailed announcements from individual oil companies are expected throughout the day.
