PANTUKAN, Davao de Oro — A newly graduated student was injured in an attack outside Kolehiyo ng Pantukan on Thursday, prompting local authorities to launch an investigation.
According to initial police reports, the victim, a 30-year-old resident of neighboring Mabini town, had just attended graduation ceremonies for his Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education degree when he was attacked shortly after leaving the school premises. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment. As of posting time, authorities had not released an official update on his condition.
The Local Government Unit of Pantukan confirmed that the incident took place at around 12:25 p.m. outside the premises of Kolehiyo ng Pantukan and not within the campus grounds. Officials emphasized that the area where the shooting occurred was beyond the school's jurisdiction.
In an official statement, the municipal government expressed concern over the incident and said it is coordinating closely with law enforcement authorities and other concerned agencies to support the ongoing investigation and ensure accountability for those responsible.
Local officials also pledged assistance to the victim and his family, while assuring residents that the safety of students and the community remains a top priority. The LGU urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The incident drew attention because it occurred shortly after graduation activities at the college. However, authorities stressed that there is currently no indication that the attack was connected to the school's operations or activities. Investigators have yet to identify the suspect or determine a motive.
Police continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
