The House Committee on Justice is set to look into requests related to the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) of Vice President Sara Duterte as part of ongoing discussions on accountability and transparency in public office.
Lawmakers have been examining impeachment-related complaints filed against the Vice President, with SALN documents considered relevant in evaluating possible grounds for further proceedings.
As the inquiry progresses, the House Justice Committee has reportedly invited Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla to appear in a hearing next week to submit certified true copies of Vice President Duterte’s SALN.
According to reports, Remulla is expected to respond to the House summons, though he has also raised concerns regarding the subpoena and its compliance, warning of possible consequences if it is not properly addressed.
Meanwhile, Atty. Mark Tolentino has reportedly requested from the House certified true copies of the impeachment complaints against Vice President Duterte, along with transcripts of the committee hearings.
He said the documents are being sought in preparation for possible legal remedies that may be brought before the Supreme Court to ensure that the impeachment process follows proper legal standards and safeguards public interest.
Under Philippine law, SALNs are considered important tools in promoting accountability among public officials, though their release and use are governed by specific rules and limitations.
