Infant Rescued As Search Continues In Angeles City Collapse

Rescuers achieved a breakthrough in ongoing search and retrieval operations at a collapsed structure in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City after successfully extricating an infant from the disaster site.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Central Luzon confirmed that responders were able to recover Victim No. 21, an infant, from Quadrant 2 of the collapsed structure, providing a rare moment of relief amid the extensive recovery efforts.

“Responders successfully extricated Victim #21, an infant, from Quadrant 2 of the collapsed structure in Brgy. Balibago, Angeles City,” the BFP Central Luzon said in an update.

Authorities have not yet released further details on the infant’s condition. Search and retrieval operations continue as emergency teams carefully comb through the debris in hopes of locating any remaining trapped victims.

The collapse of the structure has prompted a large-scale response from government agencies, including firefighters, police, disaster response units, engineers, and volunteer groups. Heavy equipment and specialized rescue teams remain deployed to assist in clearing debris and supporting ongoing search efforts.

As of the latest updates, officials have not confirmed a final casualty count as operations are still ongoing at the site.

Investigators are also working to determine the cause of the collapse as recovery and clearing operations continue.

The rescue of the infant has lifted the morale of responders on the ground, who remain focused on completing the painstaking search of the affected area as the operation enters another critical phase.
