Lady Spikers Draw First Blood In UAAP Finals, Move Closer To Title

The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers opened the UAAP women’s volleyball finals on a strong note after defeating the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs in straight sets in Game 1 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

La Salle showed composure in key stretches, especially in a tightly contested opening set, before pulling away in the next two frames behind steadier floor defense and more consistent attacking execution.

NU managed to keep the first set close early on, but the Lady Spikers closed it out down the stretch before taking control of the match in the second and third sets.

The result gives DLSU an early advantage in the best-of-three championship series, putting them within one win of securing the UAAP title.

NU, however, remains in contention and will look to bounce back in Game 2 to extend the series to a deciding match.

Game 2 is expected to determine whether La Salle completes the title run or if National University forces a winner-take-all Game 3.
