Newly appointed PTV-4 head Lino Cayetano has outlined his vision for the government television network, emphasizing transparency, public service, and stronger engagement with Filipinos across the country and abroad.

In a statement posted on social media, Cayetano expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the People’s Television Network and highlighted the important role the state broadcaster plays in connecting citizens with government programs and services.

“I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust the President has placed in me to lead PTV-4, the People’s Television Network,” Cayetano said.

He stressed that as the government’s television channel, PTV-4 carries a unique responsibility to provide accurate information and make government initiatives more accessible to the public.

“As a nationwide broadcast network and the government’s channel, PTV-4 carries a special responsibility: to inform and to bring the work of government closer to every Filipino, making it easier to reach and access,” he said.

Cayetano also underscored the importance of transparency in governance, noting that open access to information helps strengthen public trust and accountability.

“We believe that when information is shared openly, it builds transparency. Transparency is the foundation of good governance. This is where our news and public affairs will play its most important role,” he added.

Beyond news and public affairs, Cayetano said he wants PTV-4 to become a stronger platform for Filipino culture, entertainment, and national identity by showcasing local stories, music, destinations, and talent.

“But our work is not only about news and governance. Entertainment and culture are a vital part of Filipino life, and PTV-4 should help lead in celebrating our stories, our places, our music, our talents, and our identity as a people,” he said.

Looking ahead, Cayetano said the network aims to expand its presence across free television, digital broadcasting, and social media while strengthening its reach at the national, regional, local, and international levels.

He also thanked outgoing General Manager Malou Choa-Fagar, former leaders of the network, the PTV Board, and Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez for their contributions and support as PTV-4 moves into its next chapter.

“We’re thrilled to move forward together with the guidance of the PTV Board and PCO Sec Dave Gomez towards the PTV of the future. Salamat po,” Cayetano said.
