Air travelers may see slightly cheaper ticket costs next month after the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) announced a reduction in airline fuel surcharge rates for June 1 to 15, 2026.

CAB lowered the fuel surcharge from Level 15 to Level 13, giving passengers a small break from rising travel expenses.

Under the new rate, fuel surcharges for domestic flights will range from PHP423 to PHP1,237, while international flights will carry additional charges between PHP1,396.74 and PHP10,385.42, depending on the destination and distance traveled.

The new rates are lower compared to the current Level 15 charges, where domestic fuel surcharges range from PHP491 to PHP1,436 and international fees reach as high as PHP12,056.

Fuel surcharge is an extra fee airlines collect on top of the base fare to help offset fluctuations in global oil prices.

According to CAB, the agency continues to implement a 15-day monitoring and adjustment cycle for fuel surcharges to help manage the impact of changing fuel prices on passengers and the aviation industry.

The board also reminded airlines that they must first secure approval from the Office of the Executive Director before collecting fuel surcharges during the new implementation period.

CAB added that the applicable exchange rate for June 1 to 15 is set at PHP61.45 to one U.S. dollar.
