Commuters on the LRT-2 can now enjoy cashless fare payments after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) officially launched a new digital payment system on Monday, July 13, 2026.

Passengers may now use Visa and Mastercard debit or credit cards, NFC-enabled mobile phones and wearable devices, as well as the GCash Commute QR feature to pay for their train rides directly at designated fare gates.

Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez said the new system will help passengers save time by reducing queues at ticket counters, especially students traveling through the University Belt.

The initiative is part of the government's push to modernize public transportation and expand digital payment options across the country's railway system. As part of the rollout, RCBC is also offering a ₱1 Fare Cashback Promo for eligible MySSS Card Powered by RCBC DiskarTech users until July 31, 2026.
