LTO Seizes 'Smoke Machine PH' Vehicles In Drag Racing Crackdown
Screengrab from FB viral videos
The crackdown on illegal drag racing is gaining momentum, with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) impounding vehicles linked to viral online content promoting dangerous driving.
Authorities recently seized a vehicle connected to the Facebook page “Smoke Machine PH,” which had posted videos of illegal drag racing. The unit was tracked down in Cauayan City, Isabela after its registered owner repeatedly ignored summons from the agency.
LTO Chief and Assistant Secretary Marcus Lacanilao confirmed that the operation is part of a wider effort to hold online content creators accountable for traffic violations. An SUV and a big bike associated with vloggers “Smoke Machine PH” and Ishi Lee were also impounded.
The confiscated units were later presented to the media at the LTO central office in Quezon City, highlighting the agency’s intensified campaign against reckless driving and the misuse of public roads for content creation.
Officials stressed that illegal drag racing, especially when shared online, encourages copycat behavior and puts lives at risk. The LTO warned that motorists involved in such activities may face fines, license suspension, and permanent revocation, aside from having their vehicles impounded.
The agency continues to monitor social media platforms for evidence of violations, signaling that more operations could follow as part of its road safety enforcement drive.
