As the holy month of Ramadhan begins, Abdulraof A. Macacua, Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, delivered a heartfelt message urging the Bangsamoro and the wider Ummah to embrace the season with gratitude, reflection, and hope.

In his Ramadhan 1447 AH message, Macacua opened with “Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem,” joining the entire Bangsamoro community in welcoming what he described as a sacred month filled with deep wisdom and spiritual renewal.

He reminded the faithful that Ramadhan teaches self-restraint, humility, and compassion. “When we fast, we learn patience. When we pray, we learn humility. When we give, we learn compassion,” he said, emphasizing that true strength comes from discipline and sincerity.

More than a time of fasting, the Chief Minister described Ramadhan as an opportunity to look inward before seeking change in the world. He called on believers to examine their hearts, choose what is right even when it is difficult, and seek what pleases Allah above all else.

Macacua also highlighted how the holy month brings families and communities closer together. As loved ones gather for iftar and stand side by side in prayer, he said, the shared experience strengthens bonds and deepens care for one another.

For the Bangsamoro people, he underscored that lasting peace begins with moral strength and personal integrity. “Justice begins with self-control. Progress begins with faith,” he noted, linking spiritual growth to the broader vision of building a stronger and more united region.

Addressing elders, youth, workers, professionals, and leaders, the Chief Minister encouraged everyone to use the month to mend divisions, restore trust, and walk together in faith and responsibility.

He expressed hope that the wisdom of Ramadhan would guide daily actions, refine character, and reinforce unity as the region continues its pursuit of a more resilient and progressive Bangsamoro.

Closing his message with a prayer, Macacua asked that Allah accept the community’s fasting and supplications, forgive shortcomings, protect families, and allow many more Ramadhans to be celebrated together.

“From my family to yours, and on behalf of the entire Bangsamoro, Ramadhan Mubarak to all,” he said.
