Marcoleta Remains At Sandiganbayan After Plunder Arrest Warrant Issued

Senator Rodante Marcoleta remained at the Sandiganbayan Third Division Clerk of Court on Monday after the anti-graft court issued an arrest warrant against him in connection with a plunder case.
The Sandiganbayan Third Division earlier found probable cause to issue arrest warrants against Marcoleta, former Quezon City Rep. Mike Defensor, Joseph Espiritu, and Aristotle Viray. The court also issued a Precautionary Hold Departure Order (PHDO) against the four accused.
Plunder is a non-bailable offense, meaning the accused is generally not entitled to bail while the case is pending, unless allowed by the court under exceptional circumstances.
According to the anti-graft court, Marcoleta has been recommended for detention at the New Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory in Payatas.
Third Division Chairperson Associate Justice Karl Miranda clarified that the issuance of the arrest warrant does not mean the accused have been found guilty, emphasizing that the case will still undergo the proper judicial process.
