Former lawmaker Zaldy Co remains in the custody of Czech authorities, with the Philippine government working to secure his return to the country through legal and diplomatic channels.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said the government is coordinating closely with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to ensure that proper procedures are followed in bringing Co back to the Philippines.

Co was earlier confirmed to be detained in Prague after reportedly being intercepted by Czech authorities while crossing into the country without proper documentation. He remains in custody while coordination between Philippine and foreign officials continues.

Authorities have not released detailed public information regarding the full circumstances of his detention. However, reports indicate that his arrest is linked to immigration-related issues, while additional legal processes are still being clarified by concerned agencies. Czech authorities have also not provided further public details beyond confirming custody and coordination with international counterparts.

Marcos said the government is committed to ensuring due process, stressing that all actions being taken are within the bounds of international law and established procedures for cross-border legal cooperation.

The administration earlier said it is closely monitoring developments and working with foreign authorities to facilitate Co’s possible repatriation at the soonest time allowed by law. Coordination efforts are also ongoing with Philippine law enforcement agencies as part of the verification and legal processing.

Officials said updates will be provided as the situation develops, while reaffirming that all actions will go through proper legal and diplomatic channels.
