Marcos Secures USD 1.9-B Investment To Extend Didipio Mine, Boost Jobs

A USD 1.9-billion investment is expected to create more jobs and drive local economic growth after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with executives of OceanaGold Corporation in Vancouver.
The investment will fund the extension of the Didipio Gold-Copper Mine's operations until 2037, helping sustain one of the country's major mining projects while promoting responsible and safe mining practices.
According to the government, the project will maximize the development of the mine's resources while reducing its environmental impact in the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino.
Officials said the investment will also benefit from the Enhanced Fiscal Regime for Large-Scale Metallic Mining Act and the CREATE MORE Act, which are designed to improve capital efficiency and encourage more investments in the country's mining sector.
The government sees the project as a step toward generating employment opportunities, supporting local communities, and strengthening the Philippine economy through sustainable resource development.
