Marcos Unveils Fuel Relief, Pledges To Protect All Filipinos

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced a series of government measures aimed at helping Filipinos cope with rising global oil prices, which are driving up transportation costs, food production expenses, and household spending.
To ease the burden on affected sectors, the administration is rolling out cash assistance for tricycle and jeepney drivers, with aid for Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) drivers to follow. Farmers and fisherfolk will also receive fuel subsidies to help maintain steady food production despite higher energy costs.
In addition, the government is pushing legislative measures to temporarily reduce or suspend excise taxes on petroleum products and to expand the use of biofuels, aiming to reduce dependence on imported oil and ease domestic price pressures.
On the government’s commitment to the public, Marcos said:
“No one will be left behind as we face this challenge.”
He also emphasized the importance of protecting every Filipino amid global economic uncertainty:
“We will safeguard the welfare of every Filipino and together face this challenge,” the President added.
Experts note that surging fuel prices affect not only transportation but also logistics and the cost of goods, which ultimately impacts the daily expenses of households. By combining immediate financial relief with structural policy measures, the administration hopes to provide both short-term support and long-term stability.
The government plans to roll out the first tranche of assistance in the coming weeks, with monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely delivery and effective implementation.
