Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has dismissed circulating online claims about extended or long-term power outages, saying these reports are unauthorized and incorrect.

In a public advisory, the utility said it has observed several posts spreading such claims and warned consumers against relying on unverified information.

Meralco urged the public to refer only to official sources for announcements, including the social media pages of the Department of Energy and the Energy Regulatory Commission, as well as its own verified platforms.

The company listed its official communication channels, including its website and accounts on Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, and LinkedIn, where legitimate updates are posted.

Meralco reiterated that any confirmed service interruptions, such as scheduled maintenance or localized outages, are announced through these official channels.

Consumers are advised to verify information before sharing it online to avoid causing unnecessary alarm.
