Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) reaffirmed its commitment to building a more diverse and inclusive workplace as it celebrated Pride Month for the third straight year through a series of activities promoting equality, respect, and belonging.

The celebration was held under the company's #Mbrace Diversity & Inclusion program, which supports initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Among the highlights of this year's observance was the installation of rainbow crosswalks at Meralco's headquarters in Pasig City and across its sector offices within its franchise area.

The company also rolled out employee spotlight campaigns, group solidarity posters, and the "Safe to Be Me" webinar, which encouraged discussions on awareness, allyship, and the importance of creating safe and inclusive workplaces.

Senior executives also gathered at the rainbow crosswalk in a symbolic show of support for the company's diversity and inclusion efforts. Meralco said the crosswalk serves as more than a Pride symbol—it reflects the organization's commitment to fostering an environment where employees feel respected, valued, and empowered to be their authentic selves.

Leading the activity were Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho, Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel V. Rubio, Senior Vice President and Head of DU Subsidiaries and Strategic Partnerships Ferdinand O. Geluz, Senior Vice President and Head of Customer Relations and Services Charina P. Padua, Senior Vice President and Head of Networks Froilan J. Savet, First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo, Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Marilene P. Tayag, First Vice President and Head of Facilities, Safety and Security Management Jerry B. Lao, and Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga.

According to the company, the participation of its senior leaders underscores the vital role of leadership in cultivating a culture rooted in respect, empathy, and inclusion. Meralco added that fostering an inclusive workplace goes beyond implementing policies, requiring visible support and everyday actions that make employees feel accepted and valued.

As it continues to strengthen its diversity and inclusion initiatives, Meralco said it remains committed to creating spaces where fairness, respect, and equal opportunity are part of its daily workplace culture, helping build a more compassionate and future-ready workforce.
