Authorities arrested seven people and rescued 12 alleged trafficking victims — including several minors and an infant — during a series of operations in Parañaque City linked to an alleged sex trafficking network operating under the guise of spa services.

The operation was carried out by the National Bureau of Investigation through its Homicide Division on May 7 after receiving intelligence information from a non-government organization about a group allegedly exploiting minors through illegal massage services.

According to investigators, the suspects were offering victims to clients as therapists for so-called nuru massage and lingam massage, which authorities said involved sexual services in exchange for money.

NBI agents conducted surveillance and coordinated with the suspects online before tracing the operation to an establishment called Rainbow Spa.

During the entrapment operation, undercover agents were allegedly offered the services of two female therapists and were later brought to a nearby apartelle. After payment using marked money was made, operatives moved in and rescued the victims.

Two men believed to be responsible for transporting and delivering minor victims to clients were immediately arrested.

Investigators later discovered that several victims and suspects were staying inside a house in Fortunata Village, Parañaque City. Follow-up operations in the area led to the arrest of two more individuals and the rescue of eight additional victims.

Authorities also uncovered information that two minors were still being transported to meet clients in other locations. This eventually led agents to a couple allegedly believed to be operating the trafficking network from Fourth Estate, Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque City, where another operation resulted in their arrest.

At the same time, another rescue operation was conducted at a motel in Pasay City, where agents rescued a minor and arrested her alleged male client. Another female victim was also recovered during inventory and verification procedures at the Fortunata Village residence.

All arrested suspects have already undergone inquest proceedings for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012, along with other possible charges.

Melvin A. Matibag praised the operatives behind the successful operation and stressed the agency’s continued campaign against human trafficking and child exploitation.

“Human trafficking is a cruel assault on human dignity, especially when the victims are minors who are robbed of their innocence and future. The NBI will continue to intensify its operations against trafficking syndicates and ensure that those responsible are brought before the law,” Director Matibag stated.

The NBI also urged the public to report suspected cases of human trafficking, online exploitation, and crimes involving minors to authorities immediately.
