Residents and businesses in Cavite can expect more stable electricity as Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has energized a new substation to support the province’s growing power demand.
The power distributor, led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, recently commissioned the Island Cove Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation, a project aimed at improving reliability across key areas in Cavite.
The facility includes an 83-megavolt amperes (MVA) power transformer bank, along with 115-kilovolt (kV) and 34.5 kV GIS installations. These upgrades are designed to handle increasing electricity needs while minimizing disruptions.
Among the areas expected to benefit are Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, and Noveleta—fast-growing communities with rising residential and commercial demand.
Key establishments that will gain from the improved power infrastructure include Bacoor City Hall, Ayala Land Inc.’s Evo City, SM City Bacoor, Cavite Medical Center, and Binakayan Hospital and Medical Center.
Meralco said the project is part of its broader effort to strengthen its distribution network, ensuring the delivery of safe, stable, and reliable electricity service to its customers.
With Cavite continuing to attract investments and development, the company is ramping up infrastructure to keep pace with demand and support economic growth in the region.
