It’s official—the cool northeast monsoon has wrapped up, and the country is now entering the warm and dry season, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

In an announcement on Monday, the weather bureau said Filipinos can expect generally fair weather in the coming weeks, with hotter days ahead and occasional isolated thunderstorms developing as temperatures climb.

While most of the country will feel the shift, PAGASA noted that some parts of Northern Luzon may still experience occasional northeasterly winds.

With the heat ramping up, authorities are urging the public to take precautions—especially to avoid heat stress and to use water wisely for both personal and household needs.

PAGASA Administrator Nathaniel Servando said the agency will continue to closely monitor conditions, particularly the rising heat index levels not just in Metro Manila but across the country.

The heat index refers to how hot it actually feels when humidity is factored in with the air temperature—and it’s expected to soar in the coming months.

Most parts of the country, especially Northern and Central Luzon, are forecast to experience higher temperatures from April through May.

According to senior weather specialist Joseph Basconcillo, temperatures in Northern Luzon could peak at an extreme 40.5°C by May.

Expect hot, humid days and fewer rains as the dry season settles in—conditions that could last through April and May.
