Pangilinan Fires Back At Suitcase Allegations Amid Flood Control Probe

Senator Kiko Pangilinan has strongly denied allegations linking him to supposed “suitcase” controversies connected to an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in government flood control projects.
The controversy surfaced after a press briefing where unnamed individuals made insinuations involving supposed transfers or use of suitcases in connection with billions of pesos in public funds allegedly lost to questionable infrastructure projects. The claims quickly circulated amid heightened scrutiny of flood control spending and alleged corruption in public works.
Pangilinan, who recently took over as chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Subcommittee leading the investigation into the alleged flood control scam, dismissed the accusations as baseless and politically motivated. He said the claims were intended to tarnish his reputation at a time when he is set to oversee a high-profile inquiry into irregularities involving public funds.
He also pushed back against what he described as attempts to drag his family into the issue, warning that those behind the allegations would be held accountable through legal action over what he considers defamatory statements.
The senator maintained that there is no evidence supporting the accusations and said the timing of the claims appears aimed at discrediting his role in the Senate probe.
The issue comes as the Senate Blue Ribbon Subcommittee continues its investigation into alleged corruption in flood control projects, which have long been flagged in audit reports and public discussions due to concerns over missing funds, substandard implementation, and questionable project costs.
As the inquiry moves forward, Pangilinan’s camp insists the allegations are meant to divert attention from the investigation and undermine accountability efforts in government infrastructure spending.
