PH Pushes Interpol Red Notice Against Zaldy Co As Authorities Seize Luxury Vehicles

The Philippine government is moving closer to securing an international red notice against former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co, as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed it has submitted all required supplemental documents to Interpol ahead of the February 11 deadline.
The NBI is hopeful the red notice will be issued soon, which would alert law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and apprehend Co, who has been declared a fugitive from justice by the Sandiganbayan over ongoing graft and malversation cases. While the notice has not yet been released, the bureau continues to prepare intelligence reports and provide additional information to assist Interpol in tracking Co’s movements abroad.
Authorities have intensified scrutiny of Co’s assets following the January seizure of eight luxury vehicles linked to him. The vehicles, reportedly parked at the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) compound in Taguig City, were found to have irregularities in import documentation and unpaid customs duties.
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) coordinated with the NBI and Philippine National Police (PNP) during the operation to ensure that proper legal procedures were followed. Officials clarified that while more vehicles associated with Co are under review, there has been no official announcement of additional seizures beyond the eight confirmed units.
The government’s actions against Co follow directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to strengthen anti-smuggling measures and enforce stricter compliance with customs regulations.
If Interpol approves the red notice, Co would be flagged in immigration systems worldwide, enabling foreign law enforcement agencies to assist in his apprehension and deportation.
