The Philippines has strengthened its partnership with Spain after the two countries signed a new agreement aimed at expanding financing and technical support for major development projects.

Finance Secretary Frederick Go and Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Miguel Utray formally signed the Framework Protocol on Financial and Technical Cooperation, a deal that will allow the Philippines to access concessional financing and specialized expertise from Spain.

Government officials said the agreement is expected to support a range of priority projects, including transport infrastructure, agriculture, digital connectivity, and energy development.

The partnership is seen as a step toward accelerating projects that can improve public services, enhance mobility, and create more economic opportunities across the country. Officials also noted that access to favorable financing terms could help advance large-scale initiatives while easing funding pressures on the government.

Among the areas expected to benefit are road and transport networks that connect communities, programs that strengthen agricultural productivity, and investments that improve energy and communication infrastructure.

The agreement highlights the growing economic cooperation between the Philippines and Spain as both countries seek to deepen ties and support long-term development efforts.
