The main index of the Philippine Stock Exchange ended Friday in negative territory as selling pressure weighed on the market.
The Philippine Stock Exchange Index closed at 6,320.41, dropping 60.12 points or 0.94 percent on March 6, 2026. The decline came amid cautious trading and continued foreign outflows.
Market activity reached ₱7.6 billion in total value turnover. Declining stocks outnumbered gainers, with 116 decliners compared to 69 advancers, while 62 issues remained unchanged, reflecting the generally weaker market sentiment during the session.
Foreign investors were also net sellers for the day. Foreign buying totaled ₱3.65 billion, while foreign selling reached ₱3.88 billion, resulting in a net foreign selling of ₱229.74 million.
Analysts often watch foreign fund movements closely, as they can significantly influence the direction of the Philippine stock market. Friday’s outflow added pressure to the index, contributing to the day’s decline.
Despite the drop, market observers say trading activity remains relatively active as investors continue to monitor economic developments and corporate earnings that could influence the next direction of the local market.
