The Arnold Janssen Kalinga Foundation has strongly denied allegations raised during a recent Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing involving Rev. Fr. Flaviano Antonio L. Villanueva, SVD, who was accused by a witness of allegedly receiving money delivered in an envelope near a church on Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City and through a suitcase allegedly dropped off at an address referred to as “33 Clemente.”

In a statement released on June 4, 2026, the foundation rejected the claims outright, calling them false and unsupported by any credible evidence. It stressed that the allegations publicly attributed to Fr. Villanueva did not correspond to any verified transactions or events.

The group also pointed out inconsistencies in the testimony, noting that the supposed delivery site near a church on Mindanao Avenue was not clearly identified and that no known SVD parish, mission center, or ministry facility exists in that area matching the description provided by the witness. The alleged “33 Clemente” location was also described as unsubstantiated and lacking any proof.

Fr. Villanueva, who is widely known for his ministry among the urban poor and families of extrajudicial killing (EJK) victims, was defended by the foundation as someone who has long been active in social justice work and pastoral care for marginalized communities. The group said the accusations unfairly targeted his reputation and decades of service.

The foundation also criticized the public airing of serious claims during a legislative hearing, arguing that such allegations should be supported by verifiable facts before being presented in a formal investigative setting. It warned that baseless testimony risks damaging reputations and undermining public trust in institutional proceedings.

According to the statement, legal steps have already been initiated in response to the allegations, with the organization vowing to hold accountable those responsible for what it described as defamatory claims.

Despite the controversy, Fr. Villanueva is expected to continue his ministry and advocacy work, particularly his support for the poor and victims seeking justice.

The foundation ended its statement by emphasizing that truth must be protected and that false accusations, especially when made under oath or in official proceedings, carry serious consequences.
