The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) staged a strong recovery on Tuesday, closing higher as investors returned to the market and foreign funds posted net buying activity.
At the closing bell, the benchmark index finished at 6,126.22, up 91.20 points or 1.51 percent from the previous session.
Market activity generated a total value turnover of P6.8 billion, reflecting steady participation from investors throughout the trading day.
Advancing stocks slightly outnumbered decliners, with 85 issues ending in positive territory compared to 83 losers, while 66 stocks remained unchanged.
Foreign investors also provided support to the market. Foreign buying reached P4.00 billion, while foreign selling totaled P3.74 billion, resulting in net foreign buying of P262.47 million.
The positive finish comes a day after the local market suffered a sharp decline, suggesting renewed investor confidence as traders took advantage of lower stock prices and reacted to improving market sentiment.
With the benchmark index back above the 6,100 level, investors will continue to watch both local and global developments for clues on whether the market can sustain its upward momentum in the coming sessions.
