The Philippine stock market ended slightly higher on April 20, 2026, as investors navigated a mixed trading session marked by cautious sentiment and selective buying.

The PSEi closed at 6,016.03, gaining 16.90 points or 0.28%. The modest rise allowed the index to hold above the 6,000 level, even as overall market activity showed signs of hesitation.

Trading value for the day reached PHP 7.1 billion, reflecting steady participation from investors. However, market breadth remained slightly negative, with more decliners than advancers, showing that gains were not evenly spread across listed stocks.

Foreign flows added pressure to sentiment, as investors recorded higher selling than buying. Foreign buying amounted to PHP 4.74 billion, while foreign selling reached PHP 5.19 billion, resulting in a net foreign outflow of PHP 446.83 million.

Despite this, the index still managed to end in positive territory, suggesting that local support helped cushion the impact of foreign selling and kept the market afloat by the close of trading.
