The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) took a sharp tumble on March 23, 2026, closing at 5,899.18, down 119.44 points or 1.98 percent, signaling a day of caution for investors.

The total value of shares traded reached PHP 8.1 billion, with 46 counters advancing, 167 declining, and 58 remaining unchanged. Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading PHP 5.37 billion while buying PHP 4.03 billion, resulting in a net foreign outflow of PHP 1.34 billion.

Market watchers noted that the decline reflects investor uncertainty amid broader economic concerns. “The PSEi closed at 5,899.18 down 119.44 points or 1.98 percent,” the official PSEi update read.

Analysts suggest that cautious trading could continue as investors digest both local and global developments affecting equities.
