The local stock market posted a modest gain on Tuesday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange Index inching up by 0.32 percent to close at 6,026.01.
The index rose by 19.46 points, signaling cautious optimism among investors even as foreign selling persisted throughout the session.
Trading activity reached a total value of ₱7.2 billion, with market breadth slightly negative. Decliners edged out advancers, 95 to 92, while 53 stocks remained unchanged.
Despite the index’s uptick, foreign investors were net sellers for the day. Total foreign buying stood at ₱3.56 billion, while foreign selling reached ₱4.13 billion, resulting in a net outflow of ₱563.2 million.
Analysts note that while the market managed to stay in positive territory, continued foreign outflows may weigh on momentum in the coming sessions. Still, the slight gain reflects resilience in select local stocks amid mixed market sentiment.
