The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended Monday's trading session in positive territory, extending its gains as investors continued to buy into the local market.

The benchmark index rose by 35.96 points, or 0.58 percent, to close at 6,223.99, reflecting sustained optimism among market participants despite cautious trading across some sectors.

Market activity reached PHP 6.5 billion in total value traded, with advancing stocks outnumbering losers. A total of 100 stocks advanced, while 83 declined and 59 issues ended unchanged, indicating a generally positive trading session.

Foreign investors also remained net buyers during the day,
providing additional support to the market. Foreign buying totaled PHP 3.63 billion, while foreign selling reached PHP 3.14 billion, resulting in net foreign buying of PHP 491.6 million.

The return of foreign inflows suggests continued investor confidence in Philippine equities, as market participants monitor both domestic developments and global economic signals that could influence trading in the coming days.

The PSEi's latest gain pushes the benchmark index further above the 6,200 level, keeping its recent upward momentum intact as investors look ahead to fresh economic data and corporate developments that may drive market sentiment this week.
