The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) bounced back on Thursday, June 25, as investors returned to the market, pushing the benchmark index above the 6,070 level.

The PSEi closed at 6,071.06, gaining 79.69 points or 1.33 percent from the previous session. The rally came despite decliners outnumbering advancers, signaling that gains in select heavyweight stocks helped lift the broader market.

Trading activity remained healthy, with total value turnover reaching PHP 8.3 billion. Market breadth was mixed, with 79 stocks advancing, 103 declining, and 61 ending unchanged.

Foreign investors also provided modest support to the market. Foreign buying reached PHP 3.64 billion, while foreign selling stood at PHP 3.60 billion, resulting in net foreign buying of PHP 40.75 million.

The positive finish marked a recovery from the previous session’s decline and reflected improved investor sentiment as market participants continued to assess economic developments and corporate prospects.

While overall market participation remained cautious, the return of net foreign buying and the PSEi’s move back above the 6,000 mark may be seen by investors as a positive sign for local equities heading into the final trading days of the week.

Market watchers will continue to monitor foreign fund flows, economic data releases, and global market movements for clues on the local market’s next direction.
