The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) bounced back on Thursday, closing in positive territory as investors returned to the market despite continued caution in global and local trading environments.
At the close of trading on June 18, 2026, the benchmark index gained 38.85 points, or 0.64 percent, to finish at 6,153.66.
Market activity remained relatively moderate, with total trading value reaching ₱7.1 billion.
While declining stocks outnumbered advancers, the main index still managed to post gains. A total of 82 stocks advanced, 100 declined, and 56 remained unchanged during the trading session.
Foreign investors also provided support to the market, ending the day as net buyers. Foreign buying reached ₱4.30 billion, while foreign selling amounted to ₱4.13 billion, resulting in net foreign buying of ₱167.55 million.
The positive close suggests improving investor sentiment after recent market volatility, with buying interest in select stocks helping lift the broader index.
Market participants continue to monitor both domestic developments and global economic conditions, which remain key drivers of investor confidence and market direction.
Despite the day's advance, analysts note that investors are likely to remain selective as they assess economic data, corporate earnings prospects, and policy developments in the weeks ahead.
