The Philippine stock market closed higher on May 6, 2026, with the PSEi climbing 69.13 points or 1.17% to finish at 5,967.21, as investors returned to buying despite mixed market breadth.
Trading activity was relatively active, with total value turnover reaching ₱7.6 billion.
Market movement, however, was still mixed beneath the headline gain. Advances were slightly outnumbered by declines, with 93 stocks rising against 103 that fell, while 56 remained unchanged.
Foreign investors also played a supportive role in the session. While both buying and selling were strong, inflows still came out ahead. Foreign buying reached ₱4.54 billion, compared to ₱4.41 billion in foreign selling, resulting in a net foreign inflow of about ₱129.86 million.
The overall tone suggests cautious optimism, with selective buying driving the index higher even as broader participation stayed uneven.
PSEi continues to reflect this push-and-pull sentiment in the market, where gains are still largely driven by targeted sectors and foreign positioning rather than broad-based rallying.
