Philippine stocks took another step back on Monday, with the benchmark PSEi closing lower amid broad-based losses, as investors remained cautious going into the week.
As of 2:35 PM on January 26, 2026, the PSEi dropped by 44.55 points, or 0.70 percent, to 6,288.71, while the broader All Shares Index declined by 21.02 points, or 0.58 percent, to 3,578.29.
Most sector indices ended the session in negative territory. Holding Firms led the declines, falling by 0.96 percent, followed by Property (-0.77 percent) and Industrial (-0.74 percent). Services also slipped by 0.68 percent, while Financials were nearly flat, easing by 0.03 percent.
The lone bright spot in the market was the Mining and Oil sector, which surged 2.89 percent, gaining 526.39 points to 18,742.74. The strong move helped cushion overall market losses, as investors rotated into select resource stocks.
Market watchers noted that trading remained selective, with investors keeping a close eye on global cues and upcoming economic developments. For now, the local market continues to struggle to regain momentum, with gains limited to only a few pockets of strength.
