The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended Wednesday's trading session slightly lower, shedding 4.35 points or 0.07 percent to close at 5,941.36.

Despite the modest decline in the benchmark index, foreign investors remained active buyers in the local market. Foreign buying reached Php 3.87 billion, while foreign selling totaled Php 3.40 billion, resulting in net foreign buying of Php 469.36 million.

Market activity generated a total trading value of Php 7.2 billion for the day.

Declining stocks outnumbered gainers, with 133 issues closing lower compared to 49 advancers. Meanwhile, 57 stocks finished unchanged.

The slight drop in the PSEi reflects cautious investor sentiment, although continued net foreign buying suggests that overseas investors are still finding value in select Philippine equities.
